What's There to Know About Me? :)
Hi students! First and foremost I want to let you all know that I absolutely love teaching. Getting to know all of you is so important to me so please feel free to talk to me about anything! And when I say anything... I mean anything. My most influential teachers were the ones that went beyond the academic calendar and I hope to follow in their footsteps. High school can be a stressful place but it doesn’t have to be with a little help.
I went to Rochester Adams High School and from there attended Western Michigan University. I have two older brothers and now a sister-in-law who also attended Western so it was in my destiny. All my friends went to Central Michigan and we're still friends to this day so make sure to follow your heart and your own path and your true friends will still be there. I was in a sorority there called Delta Zeta and loved every minute of it. My suggestion going into college is just give Greek Life a chance and check it out. I have made so any friends, connections, and memories that I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else. I graduated with honors on the Dean's list from Western Michigan with a degree in Family and Consumer Science, Education with a minor in English, Secondary Education. English wasn't always easy for me so it goes to show that you can overcome any hurtle with a little help and determination.
So in school it's always best to know what your teacher is going to tolerate and what drives them CRAZY! I am all about open discussion. My classroom will forever be a free space to share your opinion and ideas. With that being said, that means I don't tolerate anyone making fun of someone else's view or idea. It is stressful enough sharing your thoughts in front of your peers and I don't want anyone feeling fearful to participate. Speaking of participation... if you participate and I can see you have been doing the work you will do well in my class. Yes, papers, tests, and projects are important, but as an educator I know students all learn in different ways and if you show me that you are trying and come to me for help, it will greatly impact your success. During my class time I need my students to be engaging in my class. So please do not be working on other classes during my class. Yes, I am just as crazy with my cell phone as you guys are... hard to believe right? But please no cell phone usage in class. Please let me know if there are some personal issues where you may need your cell phone on. Family always comes first in my eyes and I am a pretty understanding person you will get to see, so just let me know. More pet-peeves/Do's & Don'ts to come so stay tuned ;)
